The last semester of the second year is dedicated to the 6-month Master's Thesis research project within one of the thirty participating. Students can choose among various topic and world renowned laboratories like The A.J. DREXEL Nanomaterials Institute (DNI) led by Prof. Y. GOGOTSI.

Drexel University, founded in 1891, is one of the top universities in the U.S., ranked in the top 100 in the nation. The university welcomes 26,000 students, including over 9,000 graduate students in the 15 colleges and schools within the University. Drexel University’s Office of International Students and Scholars Services facilitates the welcoming and visa paperwork for foreign students, specifically in collaboration with each department administrator.

The A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute (DNI) coordinates interdisciplinary research, education and outreach, and strategic partnerships in nanomaterials for all of Drexel University. Faculty, students, and industry partners collaborate in activities ranging from core research to improving the public’s understanding and interest in nanoscale materials. Research strengths within the Nanomaterials Institute are in areas such as nanostructured materials for energy storage, biomedical applications, and filtration; nano- and micro-scale devices for electronics, etc. Current funding is over $5M (USD). Although it is not possible to give an extensive list of all the programs where Drexel University is involved, some concrete examples are given below:
